The main difference is intensity and impact.
Regular Zumba involves high-impact moves (like jumping or fast pivoting) and faster transitions. Music tend to be faster paced and will get your heart pumping!
Zumba Gold takes those same Latin rhythms and "party" vibes but modifies the moves to be lower-impact. We keep one foot on the floor, remove the jumping, and focus on balance and coordination. It’s perfect for active seniors, those returning from injury, or anyone who wants the fun of Zumba at the slower pace. Music tracks are slightly different as they are targeted at an older demographic and include rhythms such as tango, cumbia, cha-cha-cha, bhangra and mambo. Routines are easy to follow with moves that are gentle on the joints.
Yes!
Yes! I am currently on my own recovery journey, which is exactly why I am focusing solely on teaching Zumba Gold at the moment. This format is specifically designed to be gentle on the knees, hips, and back, making it the perfect space for anyone mindful of their body.
In Zumba, we believe in moving with comfort. You are always encouraged to adjust and listen to your own body—you can choose to make your moves more or less dynamic depending on how you feel that day. There is no pressure to follow perfectly; the goal is simply to keep moving in a way that feels good to you.
In Zumba Gold, you are even welcome to grab a chair and carry on dancing while sitting down! Whether standing or seated, the party continues at your own pace.
Comfort is key! Wear leggings or joggers that allow you to move freely and a breathable top. Most importantly, wear supportive trainers (ideally with a smooth sole rather than heavy hiking treads, so you can twist and turn easily).
Not at all!
There are no "mistakes" in my class—only accidental solos :) I use clear visual cues to lead you through the steps.
No experience is necessary, all levels are welcome to join and enjoy the classes.
Yes, please! To ensure everyone has enough space to move safely, I recommend booking your spot via the Schedule page.
While it’s designed with active older adults in mind, there is no upper or lower age limit! It is a "Universal Design" class, meaning it’s suitable for anyone who prefers a lower-intensity workout.
Bring a bottle of water and a small towel. Even though Gold is lower impact, you’ll still work up a "Zumba glow"!
